WHY MY CONSTITUENCY WANT ME BACK AS THEIR REPRESENTATIVE…….HON Dayo Bush-Alebiosu

Published

on

Otunba Hon. Yacoob Ekundayo Bush- Alebiosu, popularly known as D-Bush is a humane and   optimist for a just and egalitarian society.

An Architect by profession, Hon. Dayo Bush –Alebiosu has distinguished himself as a thoroughbred and proficient professional in the Nation’s building and construction industry before his foray into partisan politics. His candour, charisma, humility and philanthropy are rare among his generation.

Hon. Dayo Bush-Alebiosu’s adventure was not by a coincidence. He comes from a prominent political dynasty of Otunba Busura Alebiosu, a former Majority leader in the Lagos State House of Assembly during the Second Republic regime of Governor Lateef Jakande’s administration.

He cut his political teeth under the master strategist and great leader of all times-the Asiwaju of Africa-the former Governor of Lagos State-Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu where he served as a Special Assistant on Housing. He carved a unique niche for himself during the tenure of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a reliable, diligent and focussed officer of government as he effectively collaborated and served as a proficient team player in the realisation of Housing Programmes of the administration.

His sterling performance in office was immediately rewarded as the good people of Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos State chose him in the April 2007 National Assembly  general elections as their “eyes and voice” in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

Since then, the story has been that of blessings and rapid transformation and provision of basic amenities to the good people of the Federal Constituency. His ardent love and compassion for the development of the area is unrivalled as several countless Federal projects had been brought to the Federal Constituency.

He  proficiently combined the primary goal of representation which is lawmaking for the general well-being of the people and the enhancement of the development of his constituency while he served..

He speaks to TIMELINENG recently about why he his seeking re-election back into the House of Representative.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN YOUTHS TAKING OVER LEADERSHIP?

The young ones are taking over in every country, we have seen it in France and other developed world. You will noticed that in most cases when people that are registered are about 1million, only about a quarter or less will come out to vote. It is because they are not happy with the level representation, young professionals has what it takes to lead the country. 67 percent is made up of our young people, 40 percent are women according to statistics and we must empower them in the area of education and SMEs

WHY DO YOU REALLY WANT TO GO BACK TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE?

ANS  Because am eminently qualified, I did two terms during my first coming, I was in my 30s then. Policy making is not something you joke with, it different from infrastructure, is like planting a tree, building institutions that last for long and that was what we did during my first and term. If am not popular among my people they wont re-elect me for second term. Am a grassroot person. Most of the elections was characterized by intrigues, even the last one that was done three times I won but they had to take it to Acme in Ogba, all that is history now because I wasn’t ready to heat up the polity then, am back to represent my people again. I have the legislative experience, have been invited to talk on Legislation in many parts of the world, Switzerland, London even across Africa.

WHAT WERE YOUR IMPRINTS WHILE YOU REPRESENT YOUR PEOPLE INITIALLY?

They are there, lots, I used to be the Chairman on House Committee on Treaties and Agreement. My Bills, Motions are there for everyone to see. I still advise the National Assembly on some issues

Q HOW TRUE THAT YOU ACTUALLY RALLIED ON THE BACK OF YOUR DAD TO WIN THOSE ELECTIONS?

ANS I don’t really understands it when people say I  rallied on my father’s back, this is a person that has assisted to make several Governor’s and political office holders. Why would I have such an opportunity and not use it, he assisted people that he doesnt even know. Yes he played a role in 2007, but then he has given tutorial and I did lapped on it to make my self a better grassroot politician. I didn’t start politics in 2007, at the age of 17 I want to be a full time politician because I was brought up in politicking environment. I have also learnt how politics is being played in developed world, have enriched myself from successes of world leaders past and present.

WHAT ARE YOUR CHANCES OF CLINCHING THE PARTY TICKET?

ANS My chances are very bright, I will be contesting against the current occupant, I have so many achievement to show for my stewardship during my Representation and you can the turnout during my official declaration recently.

ARE YOU CONSIDERING THE ISSUE OF GOD-FATHERISM IN PICKING THE CANDIDATE?

ANS You can only sell a product that is sell-able, if am not people will not support me, but they have all come out because they believed in me. Everybody can not love you but what you have done can never be erased
